A national department store, located within a mall, reached out to us with foundation problems that were discovered to be caused by an undiagnosed plumbing leak. The client also wished to remain open during the entire repair process – which we were able to accommodate. With no piers being required – only mudjacking – the repair took only 14 days.
This project was brought to us by a third-party structural engineering company who recommended us based on our experience with this sort of repair. The client – a national department store – noticed interior cracks, as well as doors that were sticking. In our pretest evaluation, we discovered a previously-undiagnosed plumbing leak. Ascertaining that this was the underlying cause of the foundation failure, we repaired the leak, and mudjacked the foundation back to level without the need for any piers or tunneling.
Over 13,000 square feet of mudjacking was required to bring this slab back to level. The affected region was toward the rear of the store – where all of the offices and inventory were located. This presented the challenge of accessing the foundation to drill and mudjack without interrupting normal business operations. Because the client wanted to remain operational during this repair process, we worked after hours, completing the entire repair process in just 14 days.
