5 Myths You Might Believe About Your Foundation Repair Warranty

One thing that sets Perma-Pier apart from other foundation repair companies is our lifetime transferable warranty on the majority of our slab foundations. This means that we do not charge our warranty customers for inspections, adjustments, or claims.

However, having a warranty is only good if you understand it. Do you know exactly what is covered? Check out our list of the most common warranty misconceptions that we come across:

1) “The warranty is in effect as long as the lifetime of the house.”

The unspoken truth is that your warranty is only in effect as long as the company that warrantied it is still in business.  Which is why you need to ask the right questions before choosing a foundation repair company. Watch out for companies that change their name often:  their motive in doing so may be to avoid honoring warranty claims. You’ll want to make sure they are a reputable company who will be around for a long time.

On a related note, Perma-Pier has been repairing foundations (25,000 and counting) for over 25 years & we aren’t going anywhere.  We have a solid reputation to back up our warranty.

2) “The warranty will cover the whole house/slab.”

We hear this one all the time. Here’s the truth: typical foundation warranties will only cover the actual work performed. If you’re a realtor reading this – please don’t tell your clients that the whole house or slab is covered. A lifetime warranty with Perma-Pier means that we will cover any adjustments to our piers 100%.

3) “After the work is completed, my house will be perfectly level forever & I shouldn’t need to use my warranty.”

Beware of any foundation company that makes these claims. We stand behind our work 100%, (which is why we offer a lifetime warranty in the first place) and the goal is to get your home back as level as possible without causing more damage. However, due to the constant movement of Texas soil, we cannot guarantee that your home will not move again. Here’s the truth: We’re amazing at foundation repair, but we can’t predict the future.  But what we can do is honor our warranty by adjusting any of our piers to ensure your home is stabilized & protected from further foundation damage.

4) “The warranty will be in effect as soon as I buy the house.”

Transferrable warranties are awesome because that means the warranty can be passed down from owner to owner. However, for that to happen we have to know about it!  Within 90 days from the date of closing, contact us so we can get the simple process started to activate your warranty. We totally understand how crazy moving can be & how easy that could slip your mind, which is why we can reinstate the warranty.  In either case, contact us & we can walk you through the process to ensure you are all set should you need to use your warranty in the future.

5) “The warranty is fully activated once the foundation repair is completed.”

In most cases, after the work is completed a passing (and recent) plumbing test is required before your warranty goes into effect. Why? Whenever a house is lifted, there is always the possibility of plumbing damage. If there is a plumbing leak, your foundation will no doubt shift.  Because of this, we require a post plumbing test before any warranty work can be completed/& or transferred. With Perma-Pier, a post plumbing test is included in the price during the initial foundation evaluation.

We hope this helps clear up any confusion on what our warranty covers.  If you have a question or concerns, please reach outwe will be more than happy to help any way we can.
